Value of Philosophy

Basically, philosophy means the study of fundamental nature of knowledge and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline. In conclusion, what is the value of philosophy and why it ought to be studied. The view of philosophy appears to result, partly from a wrong conception of the ends of the life , which philosophy fights to ahieve.
Study of physical science is to be recommended, because of the effect of man kind in general. This utility does not belong to philosophy. If we can’t determine the value of philosophy we must first free our minds from the prejudice of what are wrongly called “practical” man. Who recognizes only material needs.
Like all other studies, philosophy also aims at knowledge. It gives unity and critical examination of convictions, prejudice and belief etc. suppose if you ask any question to a mathematician, he can provde definite answer. But he cannot answer any questions related to heavens or hell. Because the whole study of heavens, which is now belongs to astronomy, was once included in philosophy. Newton’s great work was called ‘the mathematical principlesof natural philosophy’. Similarly, the study of the human mind, which was a part of philosophy, has now been separated from philosophy and has become the science of Psychology. Whcich proved that, philosophy is the only way to find new discovaries around the world. Interesting part is, the uncertainty of philosophy is more apparent than real; those questions which are already capable of definite answers are placed in the sciences, while those have no any definite answers, remain to form the remainder which is called philosophy. This also tells that how important to study philosophy in real life.

Many philosophers consider that philosophy could establish the truth of certain answers to such fundamental questions. It is necessary to take a survey of human knowledge and to form an opinion as to its methods and limitations. Which means sometimes philosophy cannot answers truth, but able to suggest many possibilities which enlarge our thoughts and form some laws to develop the human kind around the globe.
